On being the first England player to score in the quarter-final, semi-final and final of a major tournament:

“It’s not a bad stat that! It’s one that will stay with me for life. It fell to me in the right place and it’s probably the best-struck ball I’ve ever hit.”

On her celebrations after scoring the opening goal:

“We were watching the goals back and someone said: ‘you’ve just done five different celebrations in one!’ When you’re in the moment everything goes out the window. It was unbelievable.”

On Lauren Hemp’s performance:

“She’s been unbelievable, but that’s just Hempo. We know how good she can be; she’s so fast, runs in behind and gives 100% for the team every game. Last night she was on fire, with a great assist and great finish as well. She definitely deserved player of the match.”

On Australia as hosts of the tournament:

“They’ve been great. We know how good they can be, they beat us not too long ago. The country has been amazing with how they’ve welcomed us. They’ve had a really great tournament.”

On playing in a World Cup Final:

“It’s so special, but the turnaround is so quick you don’t have time to think about it. We were walking around the pitch at the end of the game, and I said to one of the girls, ‘we’re actually going to a World Cup Final!’ It’s something we’ve all dreamed of since we were little girls, so obviously we’re all buzzing. It’ll definitely kick in when we step onto the pitch on Sunday.”

JESS CARTER

On the defensive performance from the team:

“We’ve gelled really well throughout the tournament. There’s definitely been things we’ve needed to work on. We’ve had really good, honest communication about how we can improve things and I feel like we’re really well connected. We’re doing really well and hopefully that can continue.”

On Lauren Hemp’s assist for Alessia Russo:

“It was 2-1 at that point, so I was thinking go to the corner! When she started running, everyone was shouting at her to go to the corner, but she was doing her own thing as usual! It was one of the best passes I’ve ever seen her do. It was a great ball and an incredible finish from Alessia.”

On the squad’s mentality:

“This team has been incredible. The mentality is something we’ve spoken about and everyone’s resilience to get through some tough games and moments where we didn’t actually have the best performance. It’s our resilience that has got us through. Every player and staff member are so special to this team and I feel really privileged to play with them all.”

On being the first England Women’s World Cup finalists:

“We’re just in the moment so much and so focused. I’m focused on trying to reset and get ready again, so I’m not able to process what we’ve achieved already. When we step onto the pitch on Sunday it’s going to be an incredible feeling and that’s when it will all sink in. For now, I’m just focused on recovering and getting ready to go again, so for me it’s not really sunk in yet.”
