Guadalajara defeated Irapuato at Estadio Felipe Martínez Sandoval, in Parque Oblatos, to lift the League trophy for the first time and finally put an end to the famous “Ya merito” (“Almost there”).

2. The First Concacaf Crown

The international history of Chivas also features Raúl Arellano among its protagonists.

In 1962, Guadalajara won the inaugural edition of the Concacaf tournament, becoming the first club to be crowned champion of the competition. ‘Pina’ was part of the squad that took the Rojiblanco colors to the top of soccer in the region.
