Today’s top five transfer stories in Serie A are all related to coaches, with Milan on the verge of appointing Massimiliano Allegri and Roma meeting Gian Piero Gasperini.
Every day, Football Italia brings you the top five transfer stories from Serie A and today, May 29, 2025, all of them are related to coaches. Let’s get started.
One of the stories of the day was Vincenzo Italiano’s contract extension with Bologna. The club announced a new deal with the 47-year-old on Thursday morning. Italiano has signed a new contract until 2027. “I am happy to continue on this journey: we have a lot of exciting competitions to take part in and objectives still to achieve, together,” said the Rossoblu boss. Italiano was one of Milan’s main candidates to replace Sergio Conceiçao, so the Rossoneri quickly moved for Max Allegri.
Multiple sources claim Allegri has agreed to return to Milan, over ten years after his sacking in January 2024. Igli Tare quickly made contact with the Livorno-born coach who had also been in talks with Napoli. His decision to return to Milan also suggests the Partenopei are increasingly confident of keeping Antonio Conte.

According to Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis will likely meet Conte again on Friday to learn the coach’s final decision over his stay at the Stadio Maradona. Matteo Moretto has reported that Napoli have even offered Conte an improved contract, while Sacha Tavolieri stated that Kevin De Bruyne was informed that Napoli are confident of retaining Conte at the club. The Belgian ace is on the verge of joining the Partenopei as a free agent.
The Atalanta coach met Roma President Dan Friedkin and director Florent Ghisolfi in Florence on Thursday afternoon. Multiple sources, including Sky Sport Italia, claim that the two parties are confident of reaching an agreement.
Stefano Pioli has emerged as one of the leading candidates to replace Gasperini at Atalanta, according to Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sport, even if Maurizio Sarri remains an option for La Dea.
