MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup Quarterfinals delivered more top moments in the 2025 edition, as the field has been reduced to the final four contenders for the region’s premier club trophy.
Here is a look at the best moments from the top performances of the 2025 quarterfinals:
Tristan Blackmon’s dramatic equalizer in additional time
Vancouver Whitecaps FC became the final team to confirm its participation in the Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals with a stoppage time goal from Tristan Blackmon.
Pumas UNAM looked, and a 3-2 lead on aggregate, when Blackmon’s strike in the 90+3’ turned the series on its head and sent the Canadian side through on away goals.
The result sent Whitecaps FC to the tournament semifinals for the first time ever. It also marked a consecutive series won against a Liga MX side, with the second leg hosted in Mexico, for the reigning Canadian Championship winners.
Messi leads Inter Miami’s comeback with a brace
Inter Miami CF was staring at a second consecutive elimination in the quarterfinals, with LAFC holding a 2-nil lead in the second leg, but Lionel Messi struck a world-class goal in the 35’ to begin the comeback effort.
After Federico Redondo tied the series at 2-2 on aggregate in the 61’, the series-winning moment inched closer to reality. A penalty kick opportunity late in the second half would provide the stage for Messi to wear the hero’s cape, converting his brace in the 84’ and sending The Herons to the semifinals for the first time in club history.
Tigres UANL extends unbeaten streak against MLS clubs to 18 matches
An impressive streak continued for Tigres UANL against MLS clubs, extending an 18-match unbeaten streak in the Concacaf Champions Cup with its 3-2 second leg victory over the LA Galaxy. The two sides played to a scoreless draw in the first leg.
Tigres UANL has won nine and drawn nine in its current run against MLS sides. Its elimination in the 2024 edition came on penalties to the reigning runners-up Columbus Crew.
Sepúlveda scores twice against América to remain the tournament's top scorer
Ángel Sepúlveda continued his great scoring form for Cruz Azul in the Concacaf Champions Cup with a brace against Club América. Sepúlveda struck in the 12’ and 85’ of the second leg to help his side to a 2-1 aggregate victory and move on to the semifinals.
The Mexican striker extended his tally to six goals in the 2025 edition to lead the top scorer race. Lionel Messi of Inter Miami CF is second with five, followed by Brian White of Vancouver Whitecaps FC with four.
