According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Torino are closing in on Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri as the club move to take the next step in their pursuit of James Trafford.
Leeds are in the market for a new goalkeeper after Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier departed this summer. Meslier joined Arsenal in a surprise move and Darlow signed for Manchester United.
Trafford, 23, has been Leeds' top target, with a deal only possible if an exit from Manchester City could be negotiated after the World Cup. On Thursday it was reported he appeared to be leaning towards Elland Road, with Newcastle United no longer considering him despite long-term interest.
Torino are now said to be advancing for Perri. The development comes amid increased Leeds confidence over Trafford. Leeds signed the Brazilian last summer from Lyon for 16 million euros.
Leeds are understood to remain in productive talks with City for Trafford, although numbers have not yet been agreed.
Torino are understood to be very keen on Perri, but he would not be allowed to leave without at least one other goalkeeper being signed. As of Friday evening, nothing was close on either the incoming or outgoing goalkeeper front.
