Torino confirm their star striker Duvan Zapata suffered a cruciate ligament injury and a meniscus tear during Saturday’s away game at Inter.
Torino star Zapata will be forced to the sidelines for several months as the Granata confirm a severe knee injury for the experienced forward.
Zapata had been subbed off in tears during a 3-2 loss against Inter at San Siro on Saturday and underwent medical tests Monday morning.
“The instrumental examinations performed on Duvan Zapata showed a lesion of the anterior cruciate ligament, of the medial meniscus and the lateral meniscus,” Torino said in an official statement on X, formerly Twitter.
“The Torino Football Club hugs Duvan affectionately and hopes to see him again on the pitch as soon as possible.”
Zapata, the Torino captain, has scored four goals in nine appearances across all competitions this season. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he will remain out of action for at least seven months.
