Torino have decided not to activate the purchase clause for Rafael Obrador, and Benfica have been informed, according to Glorioso 1904.

The Italian club are pleased with the left back’s contribution, but do not believe now is the right moment to negotiate a permanent stay with Benfica. They are not prepared to pay the nine million euros set out in the agreement between the clubs.

The most likely outcome is that Obrador returns to Luz at the end of the season. After a first half without minutes, the Spaniard has revived his campaign in Italy and impressed locally.

It would be another loan that fails to bring Benfica a summer windfall. In the past week, Nice and Strasbourg also told Benfica they will not proceed with permanent deals for Tiago Gouveia and Rafael Luís.

This season, across Benfica and Torino, Rafael Obrador, valued at four million euros, has made 15 competitive appearances, 11 in Serie A, two in Liga Portugal Meu Super, one in the Italian Cup and one in Liga Portugal Betclic. He has delivered three assists in 1,052 minutes.
