Torino have missed the deadline to activate their option to buy Rafael Obrador for nine million euros, meaning the left-back returns to Benfica for now.

According to Glorioso 1904, the Serie A club remain keen on Obrador but will now seek to negotiate a lower fee with Benfica.

Benfica are not inclined to ease the 22-year-old’s exit. With other clubs showing interest, the hierarchy believe some are prepared to meet their valuation, so the asking price remains firm.

The issue is framed by Benfica’s plan to delay certain market calls until the new coaching team arrives. Several players will be assessed during pre-season before definitive decisions are made.

Real Madrid retained 50% of any future capital gain on a sale. If Obrador were to move for nine million euros, the Spanish club would be due about two million. For now, the likeliest outcome is his inclusion in Benfica’s pre-season group.

In 2025/26, across spells with Benfica and Torino, Obrador, valued at five million euros, played 20 games, 16 in Serie A, two in Liga Portugal Meu Super, one in the Taça de Itália and one in the Liga Portugal Betclic. Over 1,446 minutes he recorded one goal and four assists.
