Torino are ready to hand Evan Ferguson a second chance in Serie A, opening talks over a return to Italy for the Brighton striker.

According to calciomercato.com, citing La Stampa, the Granata have made contact with the entourage of the forward to explore the feasibility of a loan deal with Brighton.

Torino are weighing additions in attack: Ché Adams could still depart, while the fitness of Duván Zapata remains a persistent doubt, prompting the club to look at Ferguson as a possible reinforcement.

Ferguson eyes redemption after difficult Roma loan

It would be a fresh start for a player whose stock has fallen.

Ferguson spent last season on loan at Roma but endured a frustrating campaign, managing just 22 appearances and five goals, three of them in Serie A, before ankle surgery in the spring brought his season to a premature end.

Out of Brighton’s first-team plans, the Republic of Ireland international is now seeking regular football to reignite a career that once marked him out as one of Europe’s brightest young forwards.

The financial terms could work in Torino’s favour.

Roma had held a buy option of around €40m last year but chose not to exercise it, and after Ferguson’s injury-hit season that figure could now be roughly halved to €20m. Brighton, willing to move him on, are open to sanctioning another loan, the formula Torino are pursuing as they look to bolster Abate’s attacking options.
