Torino are targeting Benfica left-back Rafael Obrador, with a loan that includes an option to buy under discussion.
According to Glorioso 1904, the Serie A side have made an approach proposing a temporary deal until the end of the season, and the move could progress soon.
The inclusion of a purchase option appeals to Benfica’s hierarchy. Rui Costa prefers a permanent sale, so that clause is seen as smoothing negotiations and helping to recoup part of the initial outlay.
Obrador arrived at the start of this season from Real Madrid for five million euros, but has struggled to adapt to Portuguese football and the demands of a major club.
He gained minutes under Bruno Lage, yet since José Mourinho took charge he has not featured in official matches, leaving a winter switch to Serie A on the table.
This season he has played three times for Benfica, one in Liga Portugal Betclic and two in the Segunda Liga, totalling 237 minutes, with one goal and one assist. He is valued at two million euros and is under contract until June 2023.
