Inter Milan goalkeeper Josep Martinez could reportedly make his second consecutive Serie A start when the Nerazzurri take on Torino on Sunday.
According to L’Interista, the Spanish shot-stopper is likely to get the nod ahead of Yann Sommer once again.
Head coach Cristian Chivu benched starting goalkeeper Sommer in Inter’s 3-0 thrashing of Cagliari last Friday.
Indeed, Josep Martinez made his first league start since September and immediately kept a clean sheet.
Furthermore, the 27-year-old delivered a massive performance in Tuesday’s Coppa Italia win over Como.
Martinez’s heroics between the sticks helped the Nerazzurri secure a place in the Olimpico showpiece next month.
There’s a veil of uncertainty surrounding the future of the former Genoa goalkeeper.
Indeed, he has played a marginal role at San Siro since joining the club in a €15 million transfer two years ago.
Therefore, there’s a chance he could leave the club in the coming months.
However, with the Nerazzurri set to part ways with Sommer, Martinez could step up as Inter’s first-choice keeper next term against expectations.
As such, Chivu is eager to test the Spaniard in the closing stages of the 2025/26 campaign, with Inter set to rely more heavily on the ex-RB Leipzig star.
