While all eyes are fixed on Wednesday’s big Coppa Italia tie, Lazio will first have to negotiate a league fixture in Torino.
The Serie A clash between Torino and Lazio kicks off at 18:00 local time on Sunday, March 1, at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

Sadly for Marco Baroni, he has been denied the opportunity of hosting his former employers, as Torino decided to sack the 62-year-old on the back of a poor run that saw the team plunge into the relegation battle.
Baroni had been walking on thin ice since the 0-6 pummelling at the hands ot Como on January 24. While the Granata responded with a slim win over Lecce, it was followed by a Coppa Italia elimination att the hands of Inter Milan, a 2-2 draw to Fiorentina (only thanks to a last-minute equalizer), a 1-2 defeat to Bologna at home, while the 0-3 humbling in Genoa proved to be the last straw.
New head coach Roberto D’Aversa has inherited a team in 15th place in the table, only three points above the drop zone.
Aside from beating Bologna in the shootouts in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia, it has been a vastly disappointing February for Lazio. They squandered a two-goal lead at the Allianz Stadium to settle for a 2-2 draw against Juventus, and were then beaten at home by a more clinical Atalanta.
Last weekend, they played out an uninspiring stalemate with Cagliari, failing to pounce on the numerical advantage in the final minutes of the game. The Biancocelesti currently sit 10th in the standings. This explains why they have laid all their eggs in the Coppa Italia basket, which now represents their solitary path towards Europe.
Torino (3-5-2): Paleari; Marianucci, Maripan, Coco; Pedersen, Vlasic, Prati, Casadei, Obrador; Simeone, Kulenovic.
Lazio (4-3-3): Provedel; Marusic, Romagnoli, Provstgaard, Nuno Tavares; Dele-Bashiru, Cataldi, Taylor; Isaksen, Ratkov, Zaccagni.
With Lazio more occupied with Wednesday’s cup clash against Atalanta, D’Aversa has a golden opportunity to earn a victory on his debut. Moreover, the Torino players will be keen to prove themselves to their new manager and reconcile with their disgruntled supporters.
Nikola Vlasic has been enjoying a fine run of form, so the Biancocelesti players might find it hard to contain him, while Giovanni Simeone remains a major goal threat.
