Reports from Serbia claim that Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic had a physical fight with a fan at a bar in Munich in the midst of their Euro 2024 campaign.
The 27-year-old Granata goalkeeper did not play a single minute at the tournament in Germany, kept on the bench for the draws with Slovenia and Denmark and defeat to England. Serbia’s two points were not enough for them to progress to the knockout stages, ending their campaign early.
Serbian newspaper Telegraf claim that Milinkovic-Savic went to a bar in Munich popular with Serbs during a free day ahead of the match against Denmark, when he was involved in a fight with a supporter.
Allegedly, a fan spotted the 27-year-old Torino goalkeeper drinking at the bar and confronted him, questioning why he wasn’t with his teammates preparing for the final Euro 2024 group game.
Tempers flared as Milinkovic-Savic apparently swore at the fan before approaching him and throwing a punch. Bar security then got involved before the owner also intervened, separating the pair.
The newspaper contacted the bar owner, who gave a slightly different account, saying: “Vanja came to our bar, but the security at the entrance didn’t recognize him and they didn’t want to let him in because he was wearing the national team shorts, which made him angry and there was a fight.
“I soon intervened, I grabbed his hand and told him to come in with me, but he refused. Everything happened in the bar’s garden. I didn’t hear what they said at him and what they said to each other. I’m glad that in the end we resolved everything.”
