Ange Postecoglou is hoping Destiny Udogie will return for Sunday’s Premier League showdown with Liverpool.

The defender missed the 4-3 win over Manchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter-final after limping off during the 5-0 victory at Southampton earlier this month.

Timo Werner missed that game through illness too, though it remains unclear as to whether or not the German will feature.

"Timo was unwell yesterday, Udogie was out before the game and we hope they will be okay,” said Postecoglou at Friday’s pre-match press conference.

“The plan is Destiny will be okay."

Mikey Moore, however, is not yet ready to return after suffering with a virus.

“No, no. he hasn’t been involved [in training],” added the Spurs boss.

“We’ll need to get at least a couple of weeks’ training into Mikey.”

Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero both remain out, but Ben Davies is in contention to make a return before the end of the year to bolster Postecoglou’s defensive options.

"Ben is first cab off the rank,” the Spurs boss said.

“We’re kind of hoping next week at some point he will join in full training which will give him a chance.

“With Romero and Micky, it will be in the new year. When, again, as they get close I’ll probably give a better timeline for that."

Spurs host the Premier League leaders on Sunday afternoon, with Arne Slot’s side set to continue without defenders Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate.
