Tottenham Hotspur have opened negotiations with Manchester City over the potential signing of Brazilian winger Savinho, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The 21-year-old is open to the move if the two clubs can agree on a fee.
Savinho only joined City from Troyes in July 2024 in a deal worth around €40 million. He spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Girona, registering nine goals and ten assists in 41 appearances.
Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium, he has featured 48 times in all competitions, contributing three goals and 13 assists.
His pace, dribbling ability, and versatility have drawn praise, with former City teammate Kevin De Bruyne describing him as ‘exceptional.’
A series of setbacks have fuelled Tottenham’s interest. Heung-min Son departed for Los Angeles FC last week, while James Maddison is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury.
New manager Thomas Frank is keen to add creativity and depth to his squad, and Savinho’s ability to operate on either wing or in a central attacking role makes him a strong candidate.
City are not actively looking to sell, but intermediaries have put Savinho’s name forward to Spurs. There is genuine admiration for the player, though any move will depend on City’s willingness to negotiate.
Statistically, Savinho compares favourably to Maddison in terms of creativity.
He provided eight assists in 29 appearances and created 45 chances in the Premier League last season, slightly surpassing Maddison’s 40 chances in 31 games.
However, it is debatable whether Tottenham need another wide player. The club already have Mohammed Kudus, Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert, Richarlison and Mathys Tel in their squad.
If Tottenham proceed, the deal could represent both a short-term boost and a long-term investment. The 21-year-old has room to develop further, and his adaptability would offer Frank tactical flexibility.
Whether City allow him to leave remains the biggest question, but Tottenham appear ready to move quickly if an opportunity arises.
