Tottenham Hotspur are confident of securing a deal for Manchester City winger Savinho, with negotiations progressing rapidly towards a transfer worth around £70 million.

According to ESPN Brasil, there is growing optimism in North London that a breakthrough with City is imminent.

Head coach Roberto De Zerbi has prioritised strengthening the attack as Tottenham’s next summer objective.

The Lilywhites have made signing a new winger their top priority, with Savinho at the top of their shortlist, which also includes Cody Gakpo.

The 22-year-old joined Manchester City from Troyes in summer 2024 after a breakout loan spell with Girona.

While Savinho showed flashes of his potential, fierce competition across City’s frontline limited his opportunities.

With new manager Enzo Maresca now at the helm, City are willing to sanction a sale if their valuation is met. Savinho has remained on Spurs’ radar since last summer, but a deal could not be reached.

From a tactical perspective, Savinho is seen as a natural fit for De Zerbi’s high-tempo system. The Italian manager favours explosive wingers who can stretch play, take on full-backs one-on-one, and cut inside to create high-value chances.

Savinho, who can ‘make a difference’, is being eyed to boost the supply to centre-forward Richarlison and Dominic Solanke.

Serie A giants AC Milan were also interested at one stage, but Tottenham have already broadly agreed personal terms with Savinho.

Spurs remain in talks with City to finalise the deal, though the Manchester club want to secure or make progress on signing a replacement before sanctioning Savinho’s exit.

Having recently agreed a deal with Inter Milan for Djed Spence, Tottenham’s finances are set to be boosted further, with a move for Savinho now appearing close to completion.
