Tottenham confirm the signing of Leeds sensation Archie Gray | OneFootball

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Leeds United wonderkid Archie Gray.

The highly rated 18-year-old midfielder joins Spurs in a deal worth around £40 million, signing a six-year contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2030.

The deal also saw Tottenham defender Joe Rodon join Leeds on a permanent deal, albeit in a separate transaction worth around £10m.

Gray came close to joining Brentford, but that move fell through due to differences in payment structure between the two clubs.

Tottenham pounced on the chance to sign the Leeds Academy graduate, who is considered one of the finest talents in the country.

“When Spurs came, and I had the opportunity to play in the Champions League eventually and Europa League this year I couldn’t really say no,” Gray said in his first interview as a Spurs player.

“I know so many players that are here, not so much the first team but the young lads, and another thing is that it’s a massive project under Ange [Postecoglou], and it’s something that I want to be a part of.

“He’s [Postecoglou] also a massive factor because playing under a really good manager is really important for me as well. I’ve still got loads to learn because I’m only 18, so it’s really important.”

More signings in the pipeline

Gray becomes Tottenham’s third summer signing, following the arrival of Swedish talent Lucas Bergvall and the return of Timo Werner on another season-long loan.

However, there should be more additions to the team this summer, with Postecoglou keen to strengthen every area of the squad.

Spurs are in the market for a new defender and an attacker. They’ve been linked with a move for Lille striker Jonathan David, who would be an ideal replacement for Richarlison.

The Brazilian faces an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

While the club will not force him out, they’re willing to listen to offers from potential suitors and the striker has already been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.
