Tottenham Hotspur can move ahead with a deal to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher following the conclusion of the 2024 European Championship, according to football.london.

Spurs are keen on signing the 18-cap England international, but he was focused on his international duties at Euro 2024 and refused to make any decisions regarding his future.

The Blues want to sell the workhorse midfielder to balance their books amid fears they could be in trouble for breaching the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

As an academy graduate, his transfer counts as pure profit. His sale would help alleviate the pressure on Chelsea’s accounts after they spent over £1 billion in transfers over the past two seasons.

Gallagher has been of interest to Tottenham since last summer, with manager Ange Postecoglou reportedly a massive admirer of his ability.

The 24-year-old midfielder has a tireless engine. He bagged five goals and seven assists in 37 Premier League appearances last term.

He was crucial for Mauricio Pochettino’s gung-ho football and would be perfect for Postecoglou’s attacking system.

Gallagher is durable and brings leadership qualities having captained his boyhood club in several matches last season.
