Tottenham Hotspur are having arguably the best transfer window in the club’s history.

Despite recently committing £185 million to sign Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes—handing Roberto De Zerbi a completely revamped midfield—a recent BBC Sport report indicates the North Londoners still have an astonishing £250m in spending power before the current window closes.

The driving force behind this unprecedented spending is the commercial success of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In the 2024-25 fiscal year, Tottenham’s matchday revenue soared to £126m, and commercial income, boosted by high-profile concerts and lucrative NFL hosting deals, surged to £277m.

In total, Spurs generated £565m in revenue, giving them significant breathing room under UEFA and domestic Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) regulations.

Crucially, modern transfer accounting also plays into Tottenham’s favour. While a £240m gross outlay so far may appear exorbitant, these fees are amortised over the duration of player contracts, which are capped at five years.

As a result, their immediate summer expenditure amounts to around £48m in annual amortised fees on the balance sheet. Under current SCR guidelines, Spurs can allocate up to £480m per year to their squad.

Even after breaking their transfer record twice in quick succession, Tottenham still have up to £250m in additional regulatory spending power.

This financial war chest gives manager Roberto De Zerbi the leverage to execute a complete squad overhaul.

Rather than pinching pennies, Tottenham are actively targeting high-profile talent to raise their competitive ceiling, with Bournemouth’s £80m-rated Eli Junior Kroupi next on their radar.
