Tottenham Hotspur ended the campaign with a huge comeback as they finished in the top four of the Premier League standings. In a journey filled with uncertainties that sought after changes in the managerial position, the arrival of Antonio Conte changed their course to winning ways in the final weeks.

Spurs brought in five players in the 2021-22 transfer windows but the new signings failed to deliver.

Tottenham Hotspur Incoming Players Review For 2021-22 Season

Pierluigi Gollini

The Italian goalkeeper was brought on loan from Atlanta but failed to impress Conte having no appearances in the Premier League this season. Nevertheless, Gollini certainly hasn’t given a good account on other occasions as he has conceded nine goals and just two clean sheets in his first eight Spurs games despite largely playing in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Cristian Romero

The Argentine defender was brought on loan from Atlanta but was then purchased for a transfer fee of £42.5, which was an attempt to revamp the backline. Unfortunately, the 24-year-old fell victim to injury woes. Nevertheless, the 1.85 m tall defender averaged 2.8 tackles, 1.6 interceptions, and 3.3 clearances per game over 28 appearances. He even went on to impress with his passing ability maintaining a pass success rate of 86.6% completing 60.3 average passes per 90 mins. The fans can expect Romero to shine, as he would look forward to a partnership with Eric Dier in the heart of Spurs’ backline in the next season.

Emerson Royal

The Brazilian defender looked to impress in the Spurs outfit, being bought for £22m from Barcelona. He immediately slotted in the right flank as a wide midfielder who could trackback into defence. The 23-year-old, averaged 2.0 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 2.4 clearances and 0.9 dribbles per 90 mins. He even scored a goal and created an assist over 41 appearances for Tottenham across all fronts. Emerson has gone on to prove his worth and established himself in Conte’s starting XI.

Pape Matar Sarr

The 19-year-old was bought for a transfer fee of £12m from Metz and then loaned back to them, letting the player gain some experience.

Bryan Gil

The Spanish attacking midfielder was bought from Sevilla for £21m, immediately being loaned out to Valencia deeming him as an option to cash in on and develop the youngster for the club’s future.
