In a recent report, Tutto Juve mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are in pole position to land Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson. It has been claimed that Spurs remain keen on recruiting the Iceland international in the summer transfer period.

Gudmundsson’s Impressive Numbers In Serie A This Season

The 26-year-old is having a fine campaign at the Italian club after he put in a series of impressive performances for them in front of the opponent’s goal. Gudmundsson has banged in 15 goals and grabbed four assists in 33 matches for Genoa this season across various competitions.

The Icelandic talent has been a good performer in the final third based on his average of 1.7 shots, 2.4 key passes, 1.9 crosses and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been careful when linking up play with others around him in the opposition half as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 81.6% in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).

Gudmundsson is under contract at the Italian club until the summer of 2027. Thus, it won’t be easy for Spurs to sign him on the cheap at the end of this season.

Is Gudmundsson A Decent Fit For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu?

Gudmundsson is a decent dribbler with the ball and can create some inviting chances for his teammates in the opponent’s half. He can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range. Furthermore, the Icelandic attacker can deliver a few dangerous crosses into the opposition penalty box. He is primarily a striker but can also operate as a winger on either flank if told to do so.

Gudmundsson would bring more quality and depth to Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s frontline. He has what it takes to play an important role in the North London club’s squad next season.

At 26, Gudmundsson is about to enter the peak stage of his playing career. Hence, it makes sense for Spurs to try and get a deal done for him when the transfer window commences later this summer.
