In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are in the mix to sign Atalanta midfielder Giorgio Scalvini. It has been mentioned that Spurs would have to rival Newcastle United and Chelsea in the race to land the Italian talent next year.

Scalvini’s Impressive Form In Serie A

Scalvini has enjoyed a good run of form at the Italian club in this campaign so far as he has managed to put in a run of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 22-year-old has made seven appearances for Atalanta this season across various competitions.

The Italian sensation is currently among the most promising young defenders in Serie A. Thus, it is no wonder that Spurs are showing interest in recruiting him.

His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2028, which could open the door for Tottenham to land him on a cut-price deal at the end of this season.

Will Scalvini Be A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Roberto De Zerbi?

Scalvini is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to make some crucial interceptions for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is proficient at playing his way out from the back.

Standing at 1.94m, the Italian talent can use his strong frame to win a few 50-50 aerial duels for his team. Scalvini is primarily a central defender but can also serve as a defensive midfielder if told to do so. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League if Spurs manage to snap him up next year.

We can expect Scalvini to add more bite and steel to Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi’s defence. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming years.
