In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo this summer. It has been stated that Spurs are eyeing a €30m move to sign the Uruguayan talent in this transfer period.

Araujo’s Solid Campaign In La Liga

The 27-year-old served as an important role in Hansi Flick’s squad in the previous campaign when he put in a run of solid performances for Barca on the defensive end of the field. Araujo found the back of the net four times in 38 matches for the Catalan club last season across all fronts.

The Uruguayan talent is currently one of the most reliable centre-backs in La Liga. Hence, it is no surprise that Spurs are trying to sign him in this summer transfer window.

Araujo’s current deal at the Nou Camp will run out in the summer of 2031, so Tottenham have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting him this off-season.

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Roberto De Zerbi Go For De Zerbi?

Araujo loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team on the defensive third of the pitch. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and is proficient at playing his way out from the back.

Standing at 1.85m, the Uruguayan talent is a strong presence in the air as well. Araujo mainly functions as a centre-back but can also fill in as a right-back if asked to do so. The Barcelona defensive ace has got a wealth of experience at the highest level, but it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League.

We can expect Araujo to bring more quality and depth to Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi’s defensive department. He is good enough to nail down a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming years.

At 27, Araujo is about to enter his prime, which makes him a good fit for De Zerbi’s needs this summer. Therefore, Spurs would be wise to go for a defender with his skill set and experience before the end of this transfer period.
