From a Tottenham perspective, this is the sort of link that raises more questions than excitement. Yes, Mudryk has talent and pace, and yes, the De Zerbi connection will get people talking, but Spurs do not need another expensive problem to solve for someone else. If Chelsea “have made him available for loan but are not willing to loan him”, that immediately sounds messy. If the conditions have already put off Leeds, why should Tottenham feel comfortable?

There is also the football side of it. Tottenham already need clarity, reliability and players ready to contribute straight away. Mudryk has had flashes, though flashes are not enough for a side trying to push on. A winger with confidence issues, uneven end product and a big spotlight around him could easily become another distraction. The line that he “continues to favour a Premier League loan” may suit the player, though Spurs supporters will ask whether it truly suits the club.

The De Zerbi factor is interesting, and past numbers at Shakhtar are respectable, but that was a different league, a different context and a different stage in his development.
