In a recent interview with TEAMtalk, journalist Dean Jones revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Bournemouth star Alex Scott. Jones said,

“He has been a player of interest to a lot of clubs for a while.

“Even when Bournemouth first signed him, there were other clubs scouting him. I know Spurs were one of them. There are members of their recruitment team that are very hot on him.

“It’s not really one I think they have in mind for the immediate future, but it would not surprise me if they are linked in the future or actively tried to sign him.

“From the view of a general football fan his call-up is probably surprising but anyone that has been watching closely over the past few years knows exactly what he is capable of.”

Scott’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

Scott has served as a useful player in Bournemouth‘s squad this season and deserves credit for putting in a few impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The English talent has played in 12 matches for the Cherries in this campaign so far, scoring one goal in multiple competitions.

The 22-year-old has anchored the midfield with conviction for Bournemouth as he has made 20 tackles, six blocks, ten interceptions and 18 clearances in the Premier League. He has even distributed possession accurately from midfield after completing 79.8% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via fbref.com).

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank Go For Scott?

Scott is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

The English talent has got some experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Tottenham. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also operate in the number ten position or as a right-sided wide player if required.

Scott would add more quality and depth to Thomas Frank’s midfield. He is good enough to serve as a decent squad player at the North London club.

At 22, Scott has got the potential to be a future star in English football. Therefore, Frank would be wise to go for a player of his skill set this January or next summer.
