Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club have seen two bids rejected for Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke and it appears they are exploring other options.

Ordonez has been regularly linked with a move to the Premier League, and Spurs could now join Liverpool in the race for the ‘phenomenal’ Ecuador international defender.

The 22-year-old has proven himself with Club Brugge in the Belgian Pro League, winning the league title, Belgian Super Cup and Belgian Cup.

The Tottenham target is a 6ft 2in ball-playing defender, whose style is perfect for how Roberto De Zerbi plays.

A move to the Premier League could appeal to Ordonez, and more suitors could come calling in the coming weeks should if he impresses at the World Cup.

Ecuador are in Group E of the tournament alongside Germany, the Ivory Coast and Curacao.

Scouts will be running the rule over the Club Brugge star in the coming weeks and Spurs may have to present a compelling offer to have a chance of pipping others to his services.

The North London club are expected to lose captain Cristian Romero and while De Zerbi would prefer a reunion with Paul van Hecke, Tottenham may need to settle for Ordonez with the Seagulls playing hardball over the Dutchman.

The Ecuadorian could be perfect for the Lilywhites but a move for him could be dependent on what happens with their interest in his Brighton counterpart.

A third and improved bid could be on the cards, and Spurs will move on to other targets should they see subsequent offers for the Netherlands international rejected.

Ordonez will have options to choose from, and playing in the Champions League next term could be more appealing to him.
