According to a recent report by The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Beijing Sinobo Guoan centre-back Kim Min-Jae ahead of the summer transfer window. The same source has also mentioned that the North London giants are leading the chase for the South Korean defender, who is nicknamed ‘Monster’ based on his 6ft 3ins height and powerful frame.

Kim Min-Jae’s Impressive Spell In China

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a solid spell at Beijing after producing a few impressive displays at the heart of Bruno Génésio’s defence. So far, he has made 26 appearances in the Chinese Super League but is yet to score or assist his first goal for his current club.

Defensively, the South Korean full-back has been a joy to watch as he has been a real rock at the back for Sinobo Guoan since joining from Jeonbuk Motors at the start of last year. His current contract with the Beijing outfit is set to expire at the end of 2021, so Spurs will do well to land him for a bargain fee this summer.

Kim Min-Jae has also earned 30 senior caps for the South Korean national team, netting three goals for his country in the process. If he decided to join his countryman, Heung-min Son in the Premier League, then he will have a decent shot of retaining his place in the South Korea first-team for years to come.

What Will The South Korean International Bring To The Table?

Kim Min-Jae has decent pace in his locker that enables him to make a few recovering runs inside his half. He boasts remarkable upper-body strength that he can use to overpower the opposition in the air. The Gyeongnam-born talent excels at reading the danger quickly and can pull off some vital interceptions and last-gasp clearances for his side. However, he is not the greatest distributor of the ball, which could be a problem area for him to improve if he intends to be a success in English football.

Is Kim Min-Jae The Right Choice For Spurs?

Recruiting a player of Kim Min-Jae’s aerial prowess could prove to be a shrewd piece of business for Tottenham this summer. He will not only add more bite and steel to Jose Mourinho’s defence, but also improve the overall depth of his squad. At 23, the South Korean is about to embark upon the prime years of his football career which Spurs could look to benefit from in the coming seasons.

Plus, Kim Min-Jae will also provide some healthy competition for the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga in the race to secure a regular starting spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season. With all things considered, the Chinese Super League centre-back will be a decent choice for the North London outfit before the start of the new campaign.
