Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to launch a major effort to bring back their former captain next summer, according to TeamTalk. The 32-year-old England international, currently starring in the Bundesliga, is believed to be open to a Premier League return as he eyes Alan Shearer’s all-time scoring record of 260 goals.

With 213 Premier League strikes already to his name, the forward believes a few productive seasons in North London could see him surpass that legendary mark. Sources close to Spurs suggest the club’s ownership group, ENIC, are ready to “break the bank” to make it happen, covering the player’s substantial release clause and matching his significant wages.
Executives see this as a defining moment in Tottenham’s modern history, a statement signing that underlines the ambition of the Lewis family and the growing influence of manager Thomas Frank.

One source told TeamTalk: “The feeling inside the club is that Harry’s story with Tottenham is not finished. The door has always remained slightly open.”
Manchester United are also monitoring developments closely. They have long viewed the forward as a transformative figure in their post-rebuild era, but their pursuit is complicated by the need to finish higher up the Premier League table.
Without Champions League football, it may prove difficult to lure a player motivated by legacy, trophies, and elite competition. As TeamTalk noted, “United’s ability to convince him hinges on where they finish this season.”
There are additional questions over United’s budget and their willingness to meet Bayern Munich’s valuation, which could exceed £90 million. The Red Devils’ recruitment team are also understood to be exploring alternative striking options.
Bayern Munich remain determined to retain their talisman, who has been prolific since his move in 2023. The German champions are open to negotiating a new deal, offering the lure of further domestic and European success.
Officials at Bayern privately accept that the player may wish to return home at some point, yet they will resist until the very end. “Bayern hope to extend his stay with promises of more trophies,” TeamTalk reported.

Still, it is the emotional connection with Tottenham that could ultimately prove decisive. Having emerged from their academy, he retains a deep bond with the club, its fans, and its city.
TeamTalk’s Dean Jones revealed that the forward is “open to rejoining Spurs” but only if they qualify for the Champions League. Tottenham currently hold two major advantages over United.
First, emotional pull. The striker’s roots in North London and the sense of unfinished business at Spurs make the idea of a return particularly appealing. Second, managerial vision. Thomas Frank’s arrival has revitalised the club, instilling a clear identity and restoring optimism that trophies might finally follow.
The Danish coach’s football philosophy has been widely praised across the Premier League, and he has already won the trust of Tottenham’s dressing room. Adding one of England’s greatest goalscorers could transform that optimism into genuine contention.
If Spurs secure a top-four finish this season, few would bet against the reunion taking place. “A return to Spurs could see him etch his name in Premier League history while reigniting the passion of the Tottenham faithful,” concluded TeamTalk.
The idea of bringing back a Spurs legend in his twilight years, especially with the Premier League record in sight, makes perfect emotional and footballing sense.
Fans remember the heartbreak of his departure to Bayern, but many also understood his ambition. Now, the narrative has come full circle. A return under Thomas Frank, who has rejuvenated Spurs’ style and spirit, could be the perfect finale to a glittering career.
The financial commitment mentioned by TeamTalk is significant, but the rewards could be transformative. Ticket sales, shirt revenue, and commercial exposure would all surge, while the emotional lift inside the stadium would be immense.
Crucially, supporters know this deal would not just be about nostalgia. Kane remains a world-class finisher capable of leading a top-four charge. United’s current instability and Bayern’s reluctance to sell might complicate matters, but Tottenham’s position feels stronger than ever.
