In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Tottenham Hotspur wanted to recruit Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo. It has been mentioned that Spurs made a £30m bid to acquire the services of the Uruguayan talent but failed to do so recently.

Araujo’s Recent Form In La Liga

Araujo has served as an important member of Barca boss Hansi Flick’s squad in this campaign so far. The Uruguay international has played in 20 matches for the Catalan outfit this season across multiple competitions.

When fit, the 26-year-old can be a rock at the back for his team. Hence, it is no surprise that Spurs are showing interest in bringing him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

His current contract at the Catalan club will run out in the summer of 2031. Hence, it won’t be easy for Tottenham to get a deal done for him on the cheap at the end of this campaign.

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank Go Back For Araujo?

Araujo is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive.

Standing at 1.92m, the Uruguay international can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. He is even proficient at playing his way out from the back. Araujo is primarily a centre-back but can function as a right-back if asked to do so. However, there are some question marks over whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if Spurs manage to get him on board at the end of this season.

Araujo will add more bite and steel to Tottenham head coach Ronald Araujo’s defensive department. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming seasons.

At 26, Araujo has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for Spurs to pursue at the end of this campaign. With all things considered, Frank should focus on going back for him when the transfer window reopens later this year.
