Tottenham Hotspur attacker Wilson Odobert could be out of action for the rest of the season after picking up an injury against Newcastle United last night, according to French outlet Le Parisien.
The Frenchman started the game for Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but was withdrawn after 35 minutes following a collision with an opponent.
Medical tests have been carried out on Odobert this morning and it has been discovered that he has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
The 21-year-old may require surgery, which could see him miss the rest of the season in a huge blow for Spurs.
Odobert will miss several weeks or even months of action even if he does not undergo surgery, and the next Tottenham boss has a huge headache to deal with.
The North London club sacked Thomas Frank this morning and are looking to appoint an interim manager to oversee things until the end of the season.
Odobert has played 33 games across all competitions for Spurs this season, starting 18 times and weighing in with two goals and five assists.
His injury is a big blow personally and to the club, and it could see the next manager look to bring in players from the youth teams to bolster his options.
Tottenham are already without James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus, Rodrigo Bentancur, Richarlison, Ben Davies, Lucas Bergvall, Pedro Porro, Destiny Udogie and Kevin Danso.
Odobert has joined them and Spurs will hope other first-team players can manage to stay fit going forward.
They had only 11 players available for the Manchester City game earlier this month and will need some of their injured stars to return sooner rather than later.
