Barcelona’s economic situation is still far from ideal to resume discussions about a big signing.
The nearing of Spotify Camp Nou’s reopening, however, does bring more optimism on that front.
The club have some serious problems to deal with and resolve next summer – one of the biggest ones being the need for a new long-term solution at centre-forward.
While Robert Lewandowski may indeed stay, there has been talk about parting ways with him to make place for a new signing, with Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane emerging as one of the dream targets.
Former English footballer Chris Waddle spoke on the goalscorer’s potential move to Barcelona in a recent interaction, as revealed by A,S where he spoke in depth about why it is in Kane’s best interest to prioritise Spain over a return to Tottenham.
“I know it sounds good to hear that Kane could return to Tottenham. But I’m not sure the Spurs want him at that age and at that price.
“Even if another club were interested, I don’t know if Bayern would let him go,” he began.
Speaking on how Lewandowski’s example is the perfect one to motivate Kane to switch to Catalonia, especially in terms of an assured adaptation to the style of football, he said,

“They [Bayern] let Lewandowski go to Barcelona at that age, and then he kept scoring goals nonstop.”
“Maybe Harry thinks he’s done his job in England, and maybe he’ll soon feel the same way about Germany. Now Spain, Italy, or France might appeal to him,” he added.
Elaborating on why Kane would be the ideal option for Barcelona and other clubs who are eyeing his situation, the former player said,
“What a story that would be! If I were Real Madrid, Barcelona, or Milan, I would ask myself: Why not Kane?
“He scores goals, is technically strong, and can play centre forward or attacking midfielder.”
Finally, he advised the Bayern Munich player to prioritise a move to Spain over a return to England, for it would only further cement his legacy as one of the sport’s greatest goalscorers.
“If I were Harry, I would rather try my luck in Spain than return to England. A good scoring record would be nice, but his track record in England speaks for itself.”
