Spurs in crisis as fitness issues mount
Tottenham‘s need for new signings this month has increased with news Dominic Solanke will be out until March.
A nightmare run for Ange Postecoglou continued on Sunday as his Spurs side fell to a dreadful 3-2 defeat away at a struggling Everton, before recovering somewhat to record a nervy 3-2 win over Hoffenheim in the Europa League.
It is Leicester up on Sunday, as Spurs look to win just their second Premier League match in 11 games. While there may be deeper issues at play to explain such a poor run of form, the injury crisis at Spurs cannot be ignored.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Tottenham injuries.
Dominic Solanke will be sidelined for around six weeks with a knee injury sustained in training last week.
After Sunday's defeat to Everton, which the England forward missed, Postecoglou suggested Solanke would be out for "a few weeks" but the head coach provided a fresh update following Spurs' 3-2 win over Hoffenheim in the Europa League on Thursday.
"All the information now is kind of we're looking at around the six-week mark for him," Postecoglou told reporters in Germany. "No surgery but maybe we can get him back a little bit earlier, we'll just see how he progresses, but at this stage it's only around six weeks."

The midfielder is the latest injury to the Spurs squad after he picked up “a knock” against Everton and was subsequently unable to complete training before the Hoffenheim game.
Sarr is expected to be available to face Leicester this weekend.
“[Sarr] got a slight knock from the weekend so he's out,” Postecoglou told reporters in Germany. “Then we get Bentancur back. I think he's the only one.
“[Sarr] tried to train [on Wednesday] but he was still a bit sore from the weekend. We're hoping it won't be anything that keeps him out for too long. A chance for him at the weekend but the turnaround was too quick.”

Fellow forward Brennan Johnson was another to have missed the Hoffenheim win, having suffered a strain during the north London derby defeat to Arsenal earlier this month.
“He did it in the second half against Arsenal the other night. So yeah, we're looking at three to four weeks,” added Postecoglou.
Potential return date: Late February 2025
Key midfielder Yves Bissouma sat out of Sunday’s game, though Postecoglou revealed the Mali international could return for the Leicester game next weekend.
“Biss was a knock, we're hoping that he should be right by next weekend,” he said.

Micky van de Ven hasn’t played since the Carabao Cup win over Manchester City in October but is expected to return towards the end of January.
Earlier this month, Postecoglou hinted the Dutchman could return by the “back end” of this month and is expected to return to training next week.
Potential return date: January/February 2025
Fellow first-choice defender Cristian Romero has been out with a quad injury but returned to training on Wednesday ahead of Spurs’ win in Hoffenheim.
He did not travel to Germany, with Ange Postecoglou wary of rushing the player back.
The Spurs boss told reporters this week: “He's training but he's not travelled. He's not playing. Probably another week to 10 days for him.”
Potential return date: February 2025
Destiny Udogie was forced off during the 2-2 draw with Wolves last month with a hamstring problem and was expected to miss around six weeks.
Potential return date: Unknown
First choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario underwent surgery on a broken ankle sustained in the 4-0 win over Manchester City in November.
His return date remains unclear.
Potential return date: Unknown
Summer signing Wilson Odobert has managed only six appearances for Spurs since joining from Burnley after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury back in November.
