The January transfer window officially opens today, and Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka could be in high demand.
The 30-year-old has a contract at Bayern until the end of the season, and several top European clubs are vying for his signature.
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in landing him, while Serie A giants Napoli have been linked with a move for the German midfielder.

Goretzka has made 12 starts in the Bundesliga this season, and a further two appearances have come from the bench under Vincent Kompany.
In the Champions League, he has not been properly used, having made only five appearances from the bench.
Aleksandar Pavlovic has emerged as a key player for Bayern in midfield alongside Joshua Kimmich, while Tom Bischof remains another fantastic option.
According to a report from Caughtoffside, Goretzka’s representatives have made contact with Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs appear more interested in signing him, and talks have already begun.
The north London club also signed Joao Palinha from Bayern on loan during the summer, and they have an option to convert the deal into a permanent one next summer.
The report claims that Spurs would be prepared to move quickly, that is, in January, if the financial package matches their structure.
Bayern are unlikely to hand him a new deal, but they are also not looking to let him go.
Bayern have a small squad, and Kompany needs all his key players for the rest of the season. Losing an experienced player like Goretzka would be a big blow for the club.
The report, however, adds that a convincing proposal could force Bayern to seriously consider a mid-season sale.
Bayern Munich aren’t, as things currently stand, planning with Leon Goretzka for the 2026/27 season. He’s got a very high salary, and they want to mix things up a bit with the squad. There were rumours aplenty flying about this week as Goretzka was spotted deleting photos associated with Bayern Munich from his Instagram account. So, everybody was wondering if something had happened, but in the end, he’s just not a big fan of social media. So, it’s not the reason why he took such drastic action on his socials.
He’s not playing so well this season – as Serge Gnabry, for instance – to justify a new contract. Goretzka has a market too; he’s very highly-rated in Istanbul. Galatasaray wants him, Fenerbahçe wants him. Those aren’t his first-choice clubs. But then there are also Italian clubs following him; there’s Juventus and Napoli, who are both interested in him. So, he has big chances. If you’re a free agent like Leon, you can get a salary like his Bayern salary. He’ll also have about €17m (£14.9m) gross because he’ll also get a signing fee – Bayern Munich won’t pay that again. I think both sides will shake hands and say goodbye in the summer.
In the transfer window, it is difficult to predict what will happen, but as it stands, Goretzka is likely to stay in Bayern and become a free agent next summer.
