Tottenham Hotspur talent Will Lankshear is set to join Middlesbrough, Fabrizio Romano reports.

The 21-year-old has attracted interest from several clubs this summer, but Middlesbrough have reportedly won the race after agreeing a deal with Tottenham.

Tottenham are set to pocket a sizable £20 million fee for the English talent. Middlesbrough will pay an initial £10m fixed fee, with another £10m in performance-related add-ons.

There’s also a 20% sell-on clause that allows Tottenham to profit from a future move. Lankshear has been on Middlesbrough’s radar for some time.

They also explored the possibility of bringing him to the Riverside Stadium during the January transfer window, but the striker remained at Oxford United to complete his loan spell.

Lankshear was a bright spark in a difficult campaign for Oxford that ended in relegation to League One, scoring 11 goals and weighing in with a further four assists in 44 Championship appearances.

The young striker began his youth career at Arsenal before moving to Southampton and eventually joining Tottenham.

Since joining Tottenham, Lankshear has made six first-team appearances and scored his only goal for the club during a Europa League match against Galatasaray in November 2024.

Tottenham are having a busy summer transfer window, but they need to cash in on some players to fund their massive squad rebuild.

They have already made five additions to Roberto De Zerbi’s team, bringing in Andrew Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, and Jan Paul van Hecke.

The initial duo came in on free transfers, but the latter trio cost Tottenham north of £230m to assemble.

Despite the initial investment, Tottenham are still looking for attacking reinforcements on the market, but they need to trim their already bloated squad before making any further additions.

Several players have already left the club, including Luka Vuskovic’s £50m move to Brighton & Hove Albion. Lucas Bergvall, Djed Spence, and club captain Cristian Romero are also expected to make way.
