Spurs to be without 11 first-team players against Newcastle
Tottenham have been handed another huge injury blow with Destiny Udogie ruled out for at least a month with a hamstring injury.
Udogie limped off during the second half, as 10-man Spurs were comfortably beaten by United at the weekend to further raise relegation fears.
The first-choice left-back had only recently returned from a hamstring injury sustained at the start of December, and is now set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
"Unfortunately, Destiny has a hamstring injury. He's out for the next four to five weeks,” Frank told reporters on Monday.
In more positive, and extremely timely, news, Spence is ready to return against Newcastle on Tuesday after recovering from a calf injury.
Spence picked up the issue ahead of Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Manchester City, and then failed a late fitness test before the 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford.
The England international is expected to come straight back into the team as deputy to Udogie, who was replaced by January signing Souza on Saturday.
Teenager Souza made his debut off the bench against United, and impressed in difficult circumstances, but is not considered ready for first-team starts.
Spurs are struggling with injuries all over the pitch, but are increasingly short of options in defence with captain Cristian Romero starting a four-game suspension following his red card against United.
Frank continued: "We lose two players [Udogie and Romero] for tomorrow, but we get Spence back.
“I think Dragusin looked good when he came back in, so I know we'll put a very competitive team out tomorrow.
“Then there should be, hopefully, a little bit more [players returning] after that."
Kevin Danso, who joins fellow defenders Pedro Porro, Ben Davies and Udogie on the sidelines, is also set for an extended spell out injured after hyper-extending his toe.
"Kevin, it's going forward, it's still weeks before he's available,” Frank said.
