Tottenham’s transfer interest in Savinho has been quashed after the Brazilian signed a new contract with Man City.
Spurs made an attempt to sign the forward late in the summer transfer window after Heung-min Son left the club to join LAFC and James Maddison tore his ACL.
They held talks with City, who were reluctant to sell the player, and a move did not materialise. Spurs’ €50million (£43.6m) offer was considered short of City’s valuation.
And Spurs’ chances of making a fresh move for the Brazilian are now all but shot after he signed a new contract with City, extending his stay at the Etihad to 2031 just a year after joining the club.
Speaking after signing, Savinho said he was looking forward to continuing his career in Manchester.
“It’s a very special feeling to know that Pep and the Club have placed such faith in me,” he said. “It really means a lot to me and my family.
“I feel I have so much improving to do - I am still young and very hungry to keep learning. But I know that working with Pep and his staff will help me to keep developing as a player.
“From the moment I first arrived, I have loved my time at City. Everyone at the Club – and our fantastic fans - have made me feel so welcome and at home here in Manchester.”
Savinho, 21, joined City from Troyes last summer, racking up 16 goal contributions in 48 appearances in his debut campaign.
He missed the opening three matches of this season, but has since made six appearances, scoring once.
