According to a recent report from SPORT, it has come to light that Tottenham Hotspur are the latest club to express interest in Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado.

The outlet suggests that the Premier League side, fresh from winning the UEFA Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League, are actively searching for midfield reinforcements and recently sounded out Casado’s availability.

It is to be noted that the 21-year-old La Masia product has been generating plenty of attention in recent weeks, especially after limited involvement with the first team since January.

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have also reportedly shown interest in signing him. However, despite these enquiries, the player remains firm in his stance that he does not want to leave Barcelona this summer.

What is Barcelona’s perspective?

From the club’s perspective, Barcelona are only willing to consider a departure under two conditions – an exceptional financial offer and the player’s willingness to exit, and so far, neither of those have materialised so far.

As a result, Tottenham eventually turned their focus elsewhere, closing in on a loan deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha.

Casado, for his part, continues to show a strong commitment to Barça, and the club is pleased with his attitude and involvement. But his future playing time remains uncertain.

The 2025/26 season will be tough

With Hansi Flick expected to keep Frenkie de Jong as his primary defensive midfielder, and young talent Marc Bernal set to return from injury in September, Casado may find opportunities limited.

Barcelona expect more clarity after the first two La Liga games in August. The overbooking in midfield could prompt changes, especially if some fringe players are sidelined.

But for now, Casado, like many of his teammates, is determined to fight for his place and Barça are in no rush to push him out.
