Vasco have learned the figure required to buy Richarlison outright, with Tottenham setting a €20 million price to approve the 29-year-old’s immediate switch to São Januário, ESPN Brasil reports.
The demand, about R$118 million at today’s rate, is designed to offset the London club’s original investment. It comes as Vasco ramp up efforts to conclude the deal before Brazil’s registration window closes.
Fifa has blocked a loan because Spurs exceeded the international loans limit, so a permanent transfer is the only workable option.
Despite the cost, Vasco are building a financing package with main sponsor Sportingbet to provide bank guarantees and let president Pedrinho’s board spread most payments from 2027.
Richarlison is pushing for flexibility on terms. He has expressed a wish to wear Vasco’s number 10 in honour of his late grandfather and remains in contact with Tottenham to ease the payment schedule.
Time is the biggest obstacle, with contracts and guarantees needing to be finalised before the window shuts on Friday. Vasco are proposing productivity targets and future instalments to reduce the initial outlay, while focusing all efforts on meeting Tottenham’s request.
The club remain confident that the player’s stance, allied to corporate backing, could produce the most celebrated outcome of the year among Vasco fans.
