Lazio risk missing out on Dinamo Zagreb defender Sergi Dominguez, with Tottenham now in the running for the 21-year-old. The Biancocelesti want at least one new centre-back this summer and have made the Spain U21 a leading target.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported last week that Lazio had reached an agreement in principle with Dinamo Zagreb for Dominguez. Fresh claims in Italy, however, indicate the deal is far from done as Premier League competition emerges.
Alfredo Pedulla says Spurs will turn their attention to Dominguez after completing Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi on a free transfer. Tottenham are planning a second centre-back signing and have already opened contacts between the clubs.
Pedulla also contends that a fee reported in Italy as €four-five million is wide of the mark, with Dinamo seeking at least triple that sum, plus bonuses and a possible sign-on fee.
A La Masia graduate, Dominguez left Barcelona last summer due to limited first-team opportunities. He has two goals and four assists in 41 appearances this season, helping Dinamo secure the domestic double.
