Everton team news

Jarrad Branthwaite (hamstring) and Jack Grealish (foot) both remain long-term absentees but aside from that David Moyes’ only other concern is the fitness of Idrissa Gana Gueye.

Speaking in Friday's pre-match press conference at Moyes said of the midfielder: "[Gueye] has been back on the grass. I'd say there's probably a 50-50 chance he could be involved. We'll know a bit more once we've trained and seen him over the next couple of days.

"He's not trained with the team, at the moment, so that's where we're at with him."

Spurs injury news

Djed Spence has been passed fit having sustained a facial injury when up against Liam Delap in midweek, while Roberto De Zerbi has offered some promising news on the attacking front.

“[Dominic] Solanke is available for tomorrow,” De Zerbi said in his pre-match press conference. “We have to decide if he starts in the first 11 or not.

“[James] Maddison is available. It's always tough to decide before the game how many minutes he can play. Of course, he's a different player, he's a top player for us, but we have to analyse the physical condition, the Italian weather and a lot of things, but both are available.”

Tottenham captain Cristian Romero sparks fan fury by flying to Argentina before relegation decider

Cristian Romero has ignited controversy by travelling to Argentina just days before Tottenham Hotspur’s critical Premier League clash against Everton on Sunday, a match that could determine their top-flight status.

Spurs find themselves embroiled in a desperate relegation battle, sitting merely two points above 18th-placed West Ham following their 2-1 defeat by London rivals Chelsea on Tuesday.

Despite being sidelined with an injury and absent from the Stamford Bridge fixture, Romero had been lauded as a "great captain" by manager Roberto De Zerbi only a day earlier.

However, it has since emerged that the Argentine defender is back in his homeland, attending his boyhood club Belgrano, who are set to play River Plate in a title decider this weekend.

De Zerbi ready for Spurs fans to boost side in relegation scrap

“If the fans show their love to the players, it is not pressure, it is an honour, it is a great thing for the players,” De Zerbi insisted.

“It is not a pressure, it is a good thing, it is a positive thing for us.”“We are playing well. We deserve to stay up but we have another step and a very tough step but it’s possible for us.”

De Zerbi vows to stay at Tottenham even if side relegated

"Yeah, I confirm everything,” said the Italian. “It’s still an honour to be a coach for Tottenham, even if on Sunday we play for the relegation fight, its not a problem.

“I consider football something more than the (league) table... We are fighting for something very ‌important for everyone. It is football. But we have enough quality.

“To attack the pressure, you have to find the valour ‌inside of yourself, to understand the situation ‌and force yourself to give your best."

Tottenham Hotspur

Position: 17th | Played: 37 | Points: 38 | GD: -10

Remaining fixtures:

  1. 24 May - Everton (H)

One point would surely do for Spurs now, their goal difference 12 better than that of West Ham with a game to go. Everton have little to play for – though David Moyes may wish to keep his former club up.
