Igor Tudor still chasing first win as Spurs boss as relegation threat remains

Relegation-threatened Tottenham continue in their pursuit of a first league win of the year on Thursday as they face Crystal Palace.

OneFootball Videos

It is a third consecutive London derby for Igor Tudor, who has tasted defeat at the hands of both Arsenal and Fulham since signing on as Spurs’ interim boss.

He is yet to get his side into gear, and they now sit precariously close to the drop zone, just four points up the road from 18th-placed West Ham.

Palace, meanwhile, are not faring much better. They have slumped to 14th in the league - just six points ahead of Spurs - after giving up a one-goal lead to lose to Manchester United last time out.

They will hope to find form here, though, ahead of next week’s Conference League round of 16 meeting with AEK Larnaca.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Tottenham vs Crystal Palace is scheduled for an 8pm GMT kick-off on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

The match will take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in north London.

Tottenham vs Crystal Palace team news

There are injuries abound for Spurs, making Tudor’s task all the more challenging.

He was handed his latest setback ahead of kick-off at Craven Cottage, as Djed Spence was left out of the squad due to a minor calf injury. It is not yet clear whether he will be passed fit to face Palace.

The remaining injuries in the squad are all long-term. Lucas Bergvall remains in recovery from a sprained ankle, expected to keep him out until next month, with Mohammed Kudus facing a similar timeline as he looks to recover from a hamstring problem.

Destiny Udogie, also sidelined with a hamstring problem, is being assessed on a week-by-week basis, according to Tudor, though he is not expected to make a comeback for at least another fortnight.

Dejan Kulusevski remains in a state of flux following last year’s knee surgery, while Wilson Odobert, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ben Davies and James Maddison are all set to be sidelined at least until the latter stages of this campaign.

Club captain Cristian Romero remains suspended after he was sent off during last month’s defeat by Manchester United, Thomas Frank’s penultimate match in charge of the side.

Oliver Glasner is also facing a suspension to a key defender due to a red card awarded in defeat by United. His will see Maxence Lacroix sidelined for one match after he was given his marching orders for a last-man foul on Matheus Cunha.

Elsewhere, Jean-Philippe Mateta is out with the same knee injury which saw his Deadline Day transfer to AC Milan fall through at the eleventh hour.

He is expected to play for Palace again before the end of the campaign, though, as he has decided against undergoing surgery.

Jefferson Lerma is slowly closing in on a return from the thigh injury he sustained against Burnley last month, but the trip north of the river is expected to come too soon for him.

Similar is true of Eddie Nketiah and Cheick Doucoure, neither of whom are expected back until next month at the earliest.

Tottenham vs Crystal Palace prediction

It may be easy to write off Crystal Palace as they come into this match with just three wins in their last 18 matches - but do so at your own peril.

At Old Trafford last time out, Glasner’s side were more than equal to Michael Carrick’s resurgent and well-rested United, and could have been confident of taking home three points had they finished the match with a full complement on the pitch.

This ailing Tottenham side should not pose such stern opposition, and their disillusioned home fans will not be doing too much to egg them on, either.

A good opportunity presents itself, then, for Glasner’s men to build some real positive momentum ahead of making their debut in the knockout rounds of a European competition.

Crystal Palace to win, 3-1.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

Palace completed a first-ever league double over Spurs last season. but could not get the better of them at Selhurst Park earlier this season. Archie Gray was the only scorer in that match as Thomas Frank secured a rare victory.
