Xavi Simons has suggested he has no preference over his position in the Tottenham team.
Simons, a £51million summer signing from RB Leipzig, was handed his Spurs debut in the 3-0 win over West Ham on Saturday.
The Dutchman started at the London Stadium, though he operated mainly from the left-hand side with Lucas Bergvall selected by Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank in the No10 role.
Those decisions ultimately paid off as Simons claimed an assist for Pape Matar Sarr’s goal which broke the deadlock early in the second half, while Bergvall scored the second and had a hand in Micky van de Ven’s strike.
Reflecting on his Tottenham debut after the game, Simons was asked by Sky Sports as to what he feels is his best position.
He said: “I’ve played my whole life in the number 10 position, but in the last two years I’ve developed on the left side. I want to help the team with goals and assists.
“We know set-pieces were so important. I found Pape [Sarr from the corner] and it was a nice goal.”

Upon signing for the north London outfit last month, Simons noted it was a dream of his to play in the Premier League.
That dream has now become a reality and while the attacking midfielder couldn’t hide his delight, he stressed Spurs getting back on track following defeat to Bournemouth before the international break was equally as important.
“I’m really happy with the win, and making my debut in the Premier League is such a special moment,” he added.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to play on the biggest stage in the best league in the world. I’m with a magnificent team.
“Even teams who are struggling in the table have top players. Even [West Ham] today have top players. I’m trying to adapt as quickly as possible.
“Some of the guys have been with the national team. We’ve tried to talk a lot on the pitch.
“The games are coming so we have to adapt quickly to certain situations. In three days we have another game [in the Champions League]."
