Yves Bissouma and Timo Werner both look set to be available for Tottenham’s Premier League meeting with Brentford this weekend, but Ange Postecoglou was pessimistic over Wilson Odobert’s injury.

However, he was taken off after just 18 minutes of Wednesday night’s dramatic Carabao Cup third-round tie against Championship side Coventry, going down clutching his right hamstring and receiving physio treatment on the pitch before being replaced by eventual last-gasp match-winner Brennan Johnson.

Tottenham boss Postecoglou admitted after that late 2-1 turnaround victory in the West Midlands that Odobert’s injury looked “fairly significant” and the latest update was no better on Friday, albeit with further assessment still needed.

"Wilson, it doesn’t look good,” Postecoglou told reporters at his pre-Brentford press conference. “It’s his hamstring. We’re still waiting for it to settle down with all the information, but he’ll definitely be out for the next period.”

While Odobert faces an undetermined period on the sidelines, Tottenham are expected to have Bissouma fit after the midfielder missed last weekend’s third consecutive home north London derby defeat by Arsenal and the subsequent cup trip to Coventry with an issue picked up while away on international duty with Mali.

RB Leipzig loanee Werner, meanwhile, also appears to have shaken off a knock that forced him off late following an underwhelming display in midweek.

“Bissouma trained today so should be available for tomorrow. Timo recovered okay,” Postecoglou said.

He added that Bissouma should be fit to start if available, saying of the former Brighton star: “He trained fully today. It is his first session. If he’s available, he’s available.”

Along with Odobert, Tottenham will remain without Richarlison, who is not close to returning from an injury picked up in training ahead of the defeat at Newcastle earlier this month.
