Serie A side Fiorentina have been battling to keep hold of Moise Kean since last summer. Once again this year, they can face an uphill task to make sure the Italian stays at the club.
The striker’s contract has a release clause which was active last year. No clubs triggered that but this summer presents another opportunity.
FirenzeViola report about the Azzurri forward’s future, noting that one club keen on him are Como. Cesc Fabregas wants more Italian players in his side and will offer Kean the promise of Champions League football as well. This can tempt the player, who is often in Milan for non-footballing reasons and playing close to the city can benefit him.
Interestingly, clubs will not have to trigger Kean’s €68 million release clause. A deal can be done for €40 million, which also appeals to Tottenham.
Their interest is likely driven by Roberto De Zerbi. Tottenham will not have problems affording that figure and could really push if the Italian wants.
Kean’s departure from English football was ugly. He was infamously hooked as a substitute by Duncan Ferguson during his Everton days and that was definitive all his troubles.
Now, he is better as a footballer and much more mature as an individual. A move back to England will come as a shot at redemption.
De Zerbi’s system relies a lot on attracting the opposition into the press. This leaves his players exploiting spaces and that is what Kean’s strengths as a player are. He loves attacking spaces in-behind and De Zerbi’s system will bring the most out of him.
