Colombia’s coach gives the all-clear

After the game, however, national coach Néstor Lorenzo explained that there was no serious injury behind the substitution

„We were pretty scared by the few falls Lucho had. The pitch was hard and slippery,“ said the Argentinian at the post-match press conference

Lorenzo also emphasized that the substitution was only made out of caution: „Thank God he’s fine.“

This should give the all-clear at Säbener Straße for the time being, as Diaz is one of FC Bayern’s absolute key players and is also expected to play a key role for Colombia at the World Cup

Colombia start their World Cup campaign against Uzbekistan in Mexico City on June 18, before facing DR Congo and Portugal in Group K

Hopes are once again pinned on Diaz, who was one of the outstanding players in his first season at FC Bayern and quickly developed into one of Munich’s most important attacking players

The relief was all the greater after the statements from national team coach Lorenzo, and everything currently indicates that Diaz will be fully fit in time for the start of the World Cup

This is important news for FC Bayern – and for Colombia it may even be the decisive prerequisite for a successful World Cup.
