Trabzonspor are said to have reached an agreement with Darwin Nunez, with negotiations with Al-Hilal ongoing and potentially complicated.

According to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Al-Hilal paid Liverpool 53 million euros for Nunez last year and he is contracted until 2028, so a discount is unlikely and the club’s asking price was not disclosed.

On wages, the forward would need to accept a pay cut, earning around 15 million euros net per year at Al-Hilal, while Trabzonspor could reportedly offer a maximum of eight million annually.

Al-Hilal are completely open to selling him. He was abruptly frozen out at the start of February following the arrival of Karim Benzema.

Owing to the foreign-player rule in the Saudi Pro League, Nunez was omitted from the domestic squad. He played only two more times in the AFC Champions League by mid-February and has since gone half a year without a competitive appearance. Before that he registered nine goals and five assists in 24 matches.

In Trabzon, Nunez would reunite with Mohamed Salah, his Liverpool team-mate from 2022 to 2025, after the Egyptian joined on a free transfer. The north-eastern Türkiye club, third in last season’s Süper Lig, want to challenge the Istanbul sides led by Galatasaray.

Trabzonspor are said to prefer a loan with an option to buy, with Al-Hilal’s stance unclear. If the fee reaches the expected level, Nunez would become only the ninth footballer to break the 200 million euros mark in cumulative transfers, needing at least 16 million to add to the 184 million already paid.
