Trailblazing coach takes up new job at Charlton Athletic | OneFootball

Rosi Webb has left her job as manager of men’s non-league side Stanway Pegasus to take over as women’s under-21s coach at Charlton Athletic.

Stanway Pegasus are currently sixth in the Eastern Counties League Division One North.

The club’s owner Ian Booth said on X: “It’s been an unbelievable five years with Rosi, marking another success story from Stanway Pegasus FC. Rosi’s transition into the professional game is monumental for her, but what we have achieved together is truly remarkable. Providing her with the opportunity to enter the men’s game was never in question, and she has been outstanding during her time here. As a coach and as a person, she is exceptional.

“While we are genuinely sad to see her move on from the men’s section, this is an opportunity she simply must embrace. I have no doubt she will find success. With her continuing role in our women’s section, she will always be close by for any assistance or advice we may need. We’ve developed a strong friendship that will certainly never change. She holds our club close to her heart, and the respect she has earned from all the players is immense.

The club added on social media: “After five incredible years with Rosi Webb leading the way, we look back on our amazing journey together. Her passion, leadership, and commitment have helped shape Stanway Pegasus into what it is today – inspiring everyone on and off the pitch. Thank you for everything, gaffer.”

Rosi Webb: Her career in football

Webb led Stanway Pegasus to promotion in her first season in charge, followed by three campaigns resulting in the play-offs – plus the club’s best-ever performance in the FA Vase, the fourth round in 2023-24. 

She began her football career as a player at clubs including Tottenham Hotspur and Charlton Athletic, and after graduating from university with a degree in sports studies, she took a job at Colchester United, later becoming an FA skills coach as well as coaching across age groups, notably leading the under-13s at the Essex FA centre of excellence.
