Recently linked with a move to Austria Vienna, Anouar El Azzouzi has ultimately signed for Fortuna Düsseldorf.

At the end of May, El Azzouzi was already in Austria to finalize his transfer. However, the deal was called off at the last minute due to Austria Vienna's disappointing performances. In the end, Fortuna Düsseldorf swooped in to secure the player, who will now compete in Germany's second division. The 24-year-old Moroccan still had one year left on his contract with Zwolle, with an option for extension.

"They gave me the chance to play in the Eredivisie and now I'm making this fantastic move, for which the club will receive a nice transfer fee," El Azzouzi told the club’s official website.

The exact amount of the transfer fee remains undisclosed, as does the length of the midfielder’s contract in Germany. Technical director Gerry Hamstra also commented on the departure of the midfielder, who made 56 official appearances for the club and scored one goal during his time there.
