Arsenal close in on Gyokeres and Madueke as transfer window heats up

Gyokeres deal edges closer for Arsenal

Arsenal supporters who crave decisive summer transfers are finally seeing movement. A fee of €63.5 million, plus a possible €10 million in add‑ons, has been agreed in principle with Sporting Lisbon for Sweden’s Viktor Gyokeres. Mikel Arteta wanted his new centre forward in place for the bulk of pre‑season, and club officials are working to have medicals completed so that Gyokeres can step on to the plane bound for Singapore on Saturday. The striker’s powerful running, sure first touch and relentless pressing suit Arsenal’s evolving style, giving Arteta a focal point who can knit together attacks as well as finish them.

Madueke and Mosquera moves progress

While the Gyokeres talks dominated headlines, Arsenal maintained their brisk pace in other negotiations. Chelsea winger Noni Madueke is close to switching London postcodes after an initial fee of £48.5 million was settled, with a further £3.5 million dependent on performance markers. Arsenal hope to sign documents before departing for Asia, although the England Under‑21 international may delay joining the group until after his FIFA Club World Cup duties conclude.

Attention has also turned to defence. A deal for Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera is advanced, personal terms having been agreed with the 21‑year‑old centre back. Tall, quick over the ground and equally comfortable on either side of the central pairing, Mosquera gives Arteta fresh competition for Gabriel and William Saliba, and strengthens the squad ahead of a season stretching across four competitions.

Remaining targets under review

Should Arsenal wrap up Gyokeres, Madueke and Mosquera, they will add to a window that has already delivered Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Christian Norgaard. Recruitment staff are not clocking off yet, though. Another attacking player is on the wishlist, with admiration held for both Rodrygo and Eberechi Eze. Progress here is expected to be slow, because Arsenal first prefer to balance the books with strategic sales. Internal projections suggest late‑window developments as valuations become clearer across Europe, particularly after clubs assess their early season form.

Possible departures and academy prospects

Several squad members face uncertain futures. Karl Hein, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson spent the previous campaign on loan, and Arsenal are inviting offers. Oleksandr Zinchenko could move on too, his route back to the starting eleven now blocked by the emergence of Myles Lewis‑Skelly and the arrival of Riccardo Calafiori at left back. There is interest in Jakub Kiwior, yet his composed displays last spring have convinced Arteta that the Poland international remains a reliable deputy for Gabriel.

Eyes also linger on the left flank pairing of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. Arteta values both, but a significant bid, perhaps from Bayern Munich who are monitoring Martinelli, might unlock funds for a marquee forward. Nothing concrete has landed on the desk at London Colney, allowing the manager to plan with both players while the market stirs.

Back at La Manga, several academy players are being assessed in senior training. Centre back Maldini Kacurri, only nineteen yet already commanding in aerial duels, could secure a loan to an ambitious Championship side before the window closes. Arsenal view such moves as vital rungs on the development ladder, and will confirm destinations once incoming business is settled.

Arsenal’s transfer strategy this summer blends bold spending with measured exits, aiming to furnish Arteta with a deeper, more balanced squad capable of challenging Manchester City and newly crowned champions Liverpool under Arne Slot. With negotiations reaching decisive phases, supporters can expect a compelling finale to a market that always shapes the season ahead.
