January window is getting busy as Premier League giants plot big signings
Transfer news LIVE!
The January transfer window looks poised to take off with some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs working hard on major new midseason signings. Arsenal are said to be plotting a move for Ronald Araujo at Barcelona, while they are also being linked with Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini as well as a slew of potential attacking targets in Alexander Isak, Bryan Mbeumo, Jhon Duran, Nico Williams and Jobe Bellingham.
Manchester United and Liverpool look set to battle over Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is also believed to be on Arsenal and Chelsea’s radar as PSG work on a deal. Chelsea want to secure the return of Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace and have their eye on Kobbie Mainoo amid rumours over Borussia Dortmund star Jamie Gittens. A deal to take Randal Kolo Muani to Tottenham is now claimed to be imminent, with Spurs also apparently looking at Angel Gomes.
Manchester City are aiming to wrap up the signing of Omar Marmoush as they also pursue Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov, while West Ham have emerged as surprise possible new suitors for Marcus Rashford, who could yet be used in a swap for Kvaratskhelia. Any Arsenal fans still holding out any hope over a major deal for Alexander Isak look set to be left sorely disappointed.
The Swedish striker is a long-time transfer target for the Gunners, who are badly in need of reinforcements in attack to sustain their faltering Premier League title bid.
But a deal for in-form Isak - who tore them apart in the Carabao Cup semi-finals only this week as well as scoring the winner against them in the Premier League at St James’ Park earlier this season - won’t only not happen this month, but it looks off the table for the summer window now too.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal simply cannot afford the British-record transfer fee it would take to sign the 25-year-old and owner Stan Kroenke is said to be “extremely unlikely” to sanction any attempt to get him.

Manchester United could potentially use Marcus Rashford in a deal to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
It is reported that the Red Devils want to challenge the likes of Liverpool and PSG for the signing of the Napoli winger this month.
Napoli have previously been credited with an interest in Rashford, with head coach Antonio Conte a fan of the wantaway England forward who is also wanted on loan by the likes of AC Milan, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund, plus clubs in the Middle East.
French outlet L’Equipe report that United have been working on a potential blockbuster deal that would see Rashford head to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona and Kvaratskhelia move to Old Trafford rather than Anfield.

Chelsea are among the clubs said to be interested in a deal for Jamie Gittens.
The English winger continues to go from strength to strength at Borussia Dortmund, leading to links over a potential return home for the former Manchester City and Reading youngster.
Fabrizio Romano claims that Chelsea have scouted England Under-21 international Gittens several times already this season, along with Liverpool.
Bayern Munich and Aston Villa have also been credited with an interest in the 20-year-old, along with the likes of PSG and Atletico Madrid.

Manchester United are planning a surprise January swoop to beat their transfer rivals to Bryan Mbeumo, it has been claimed.
After scoring 13 Premier League goals already this season, Brentford’s in-form forward also looks to be attracting interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle.
The Bees don’t want to sell Mbeumo this month and a deal looks more likely to happen in the summer, while they also retain the option to extend his current contract by a further 12 months into 2027 - strengthening their negotiating position.
However, the Daily Star report that Manchester United are plotting a £40m bid to win the race in this window and could triple the Cameroon international’s current wages, with head coach Ruben Amorim said to be a huge admirer of his talents.
Such an approach is said to be dependent on the Red Devils selling players first.

A move to take Randal Kolo Muani to Tottenham is now rumoured to be imminent.
Spurs are wasting no time in attempting to boost their numbers this month after an injury and illness nightmare that has ravaged Ange Postecoglou’s squad across the winter.
Having already signed young Czech goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, and handed him a swift debut against Liverpool, Tottenham now appear to be focusing their attentions on Kolo Muani.
GiveMeSport report that Spurs are making great progress in talks over the French forward, who seems surplus to requirements at PSG.
They reportedly hope to wrap up a loan agreement for Kolo Muani by the end of this week.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia looks to be emerging as potentially one of the biggest names of this January transfer window.
The highly-rated Georgian winger could reportedly leave Napoli this month, with a whole host of clubs interested in his services.
David Ornstein of The Athletic reported last night that Liverpool could consider a move for long-term target Kvaratskhelia, while it is also said that Manchester United may pursue his signing - maybe in a shock swap deal involving Marcus Rashford - with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea also keeping tabs.
According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG are continuing talks over a deal for the 23-year-old, who could quadruple his current salary in the French capital.
Napoli are said to want a total package worth €80m (£67m) for Kvaratskhelia.

Arsenal are plotting a bid for Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, reports claim.
Attacking reinforcements look to be the top priority at the Emirates Stadium this month, but it appears that Mikel Arteta is also keen for more centre-back options to provide competition and support for the popular first-choice pairing of William Saliba and Gabriel.
Araujo’s future at Barcelona appears subject to doubt after his recent return from serious injury, with Juventus having been said to sit in pole position as they look to negotiate a loan deal with the LaLiga giants.
However, TEAMtalk now say that Arsenal also have concrete interest in the versatile Uruguay international, 25, and are seriously considering a bid of their own.

So much has been said about Arsenal’s interest in Alexander Isak.
Still, it seems all that may come to nothing.
According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners simply cannot afford Newcastle’s asking price - which would likely be a British transfer record.

Amad Diallo has signed a new contract at Manchester United.
The winger’s current deal had been due to expire at the end of the season, though United had the option to extend by a further year.
However, new terms have been agreed and Amad has committed his future through to 2030.
Amad said: “I am really proud to have signed this new contract. I have had some incredible moments with this club already but there is so much more to come.
“I have huge ambitions in the game and I want to achieve history at Manchester United.”
